My friend Keri and I met during our employment at alive magazine. She the quirky graphic designer, and I the over-sharing editor. At first, I’m pretty sure I freaked her out. But then she heard me singing the guitar riff for “Smoke on the water” and we’ve been friends ever since. We even made a rap group called Do-rag Tuesdays. We had one song, and it was about my Nissan Versa. Don’t ask me to sing it though unless you’re prepared to participate–it requires two people. Duh.
Over the several years Keri and I sat across from one another, she was always doodling and talking to me about her dream to become an illustrator for children’s books. And just recently she took a huge step toward actualizing her dream by launching KPie, a collection of prints, tote bags, iPhone cases, and more. It’s a lovely collection of weird and wonderful works, and I encourage you to check it out! My faves? The Try It tote (shown above) and the Soup print.
